Notice to the Reader: This is a transcript of an interview with Rev. Dr. P.C. Akubueze. We are aware that the topic of same-sex marriage is a controversial one that deeply affects the personal lives of many. We, as Christians, strongly reiterate the teaching of the Bible to “Love your neighbor as yourself ” (Matthew 22:39; John 13:34). And that all people, irrespective of their religions, sexual orientations, skin colors, and genders, must be treated with respect and dignity, with love and compassion. The publication of any interview concerning this subject is solely intended to enhance and to clarify the position of the Bible as concerns relational, family, and social foundations of society. It’s never intended to incite hatred of any kind toward homosexuals.

ASP: Hello everyone, Welcome Back To The Show! We’ve been talking about same-sex relationships, whether it’s a good idea or not. And Pastor has been very very thorough with us. What a blessing! People, this is the last segment of the show. You would do so well if you read all of the four parts in chronological order.
Pastor, before the break you were about to share the tenth point, can you, please, continue from where you left us?
P.C. AKUBUEZE: That’s right, Verra. Again, thanks for the opportunity. I was on point number ten which is: It cannot be a good idea yet it can’t serve its main practical purpose. Let me explain!
ASP: Please, go-ahead
P.C. AKUBUEZE: Of what good is it to marriage if its major objective could never be realizable independent of others? No same-sex marriage could ever produce a child independent of others. Whether the couples are rich and beautiful, it just cannot work for it takes the chromosomes from two opposite sexes for this to be true. Thus, it has to involve at least a third party, whether known or not, accepted or not. The practical goal of population growth and sustenance is impractical with such same-sex unions.
Number eleven, It cannot be a good idea and God calls it an indecent act. You remember what the Holy book said again, don’t you? That ” the men … were inflamed with lust for one another.” And as such, “… committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.” That’s Romans 1:27 doing the talking.
What is indecent is offending against generally accepted standards of propriety or good taste. It’s improper, considered lewd and licentious. You can’t accept such as a good idea. Could you?
May I go on?
ASP: Carry on, sir.
P.C. AKUBUEZE: Number twelve, it cannot be a good idea yet God calls it a detestable act.
It’s right to lay emphasis on Leviticus 20:13 in which we see God taking a very tougher stance against same-sex relationships saying, “If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death.” This is not only for the men but the women as well. It talks about same-sex relationships. Without even going deeper into marriage, just the relation or the sexual contact of like sexes incurs a death penalty before God. Why? Because they have done what God called “A Detestable Act.”
I must say, and I don’t wanna scare anyone, that the nature of the sin hasn’t changed but the nature of the punishment has changed over time. It was a death sentence at that time when the people were under the Law. But now, it’s no more a death sentence physically, rather, it’s that of forgiveness and pardon because we are under the Grace of God seen through Jesus Christ. Jesus has become the death that all the victims of same-sex relationships would ever have to die. Only if they acknowledge this truth is it applicable to their situation, though. Without believing it, it would make no sense to any victim.
However, the fact that we are under the Grace of God doesn’t change the nature of the sin as seen by God. Same-sex relation is still detestable to God now as it was detestable to God yesterday. And what is detestable can’t possibly, suddenly become a good idea.
Number thirteen is that: While same-sex marriage isn’t a good idea, it’s never a hopeless one.
ASP: Not a good idea but a hopeful one? Doesn’t that contradict what you have been saying all along?
P.C. AKUBUEZE: No, it doesn’t.
ASP: How do mean? why did you say that?
P.C. AKUBUEZE: I said so because Jesus is alive and still saves people from sin, from bondage or captivity to sin, from mistakes and bad habits. He still delivers from whatever kind of lifestyle people don’t desire anymore which has been troublesome to their lives. There’s still hope out there for those involved in the same sex-related situation. Hopes aren’t lost. Do you see what I mean? They can still rediscover their identities in Christ Jesus.
ASP: I like to hear that, Pastor. Please, tell us about the hope there’s for victims of homosexuality or same-sex marriage. What would somebody who wants freedom or a change of lifestyle do?
P.C. AKUBUEZE: That’s so simple: to believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. There’s still hope of rescue for victims of same-sex relations. Whatever the trouble, pain, trial, the mistake might have been, there’s always a way out of it through Jesus Christ. Jesus invites all those who suffer hurts and abuses and with various troubles to come to Him for rest; for deliverance; for peace. Anyone who feels that the burden is too much, that the weight is too heavy to carry, still has the hope to receive spiritual rest from Jesus (Matthew 11v28). Anyone who feels that he or she is at the end of the road just needs to embrace Jesus. His hands are open. All you need to do is to believe in the Name of Jesus.
He gives rest to people’s souls. He comforts the wounded and those hurt. He sets people free from bondage. He is the peace the world needs and shall give you peace if you call unto Him. He is the life that has come that you may have life and have it in abundance (John 10:10). He is the new life that you need right now (John 14:6). Jesus is the only way open for you now. Don’t wait, don’t miss it, make use of it now. He can wipe your tears away and give you a new beginning now (John 3:16). Don’t wait any longer. Cry no more, weep no more. Take no more pain from the devil. Say bye-bye to your past life and accept Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, your Comforter and Friend now!
